Hawaii with Kyani
Any reason to go to Hawaii is a good one, but this trip was one of the best we've been able to shoot! We only had about 3 days to film, but it was packed with helicopter tours, kayaking, surfing, zip lining, and so much more! We couldn't believe how much we crammed in by the end, but we definitely were able to film some real dynamic stuff in a very short amount of time thanks to the event and planning team at Kyäni. Check out what we ended up with!
We love to document our behind the scenes as we film, and this time we thought we'd show you our different set-ups while filming out there!
We shot the majority of the video with the Sony a7s Mrk II attached to the Ronin-M Robotic Glidecam for stabilization. We also shot pretty flat and in 4K a lot of the time and used the Atomos Ninja Assassin for instant color correction on the fly with the LUTs that we pre-loaded in.
Getting ready to fly with the DJI Inspire 1! We had a lot of fun filming all around Kauai with this, but we especially loved filming at this location with all of the surfers around Shipwreck beach.
The sun hood for the Atomos really came in handy while shooting in broad daylight. Sometimes it's hard shooting in the sun to really gauge what your shot is looking like, so on the first set up shots we would put this on there to make sure our lighting and color was set up correctly. From there, we would then take it off and be more confident with our settings.
